Alexandra Gary recently transitioned to a new role as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner at a busy Level II Trauma Center in Northern Colorado. Previously, she spent over four years working as a Registered Nurse in emergency departments and intensive care units across the country, most recently at a Level I Trauma Center in Washington, DC. Alex also has a wealth of public health experience. In 2014, she spent three months working in community health and infectious disease clinics in and around Gaborone, Botswana while earning a certificate in Social Inequality, Health, and Policy. From 2016 to 2018, Alex served as a Public Health Educator in the Peace Corps in a rural community in Northern Peru. While in the Peace Corps, she worked with mothers of malnourished children and adolescents in the local secondary school as well as conducted health campaigns with the local health post to bring healthcare services to remote communities in her district. In April of 2020, she volunteered with Global Outreach Doctors in an overwhelmed emergency department in NYC as part of their Covid-19 Response during the first wave of the pandemic. Alex is passionate about working with underserved communities and making healthcare accessible to everyone. In her free time, Alex enjoys traveling abroad, backpacking, hiking, and spending time with her husband and pup (whom she adopted while she lived in Peru).
